What a Day!!

After lunch recess today there was a BIG SURPRISE in our classroom! Santa delivered an elf....we read the letter and quickly voted on a name. The name that received the most votes was Snowflake...so Snowflake it is :)Hopefully  Snowflake is flying to the North Pole right now to tell Santa how great all of my friends were today!

After the elf we had another surprise!! Our large pillows and bean bags arrived!!! The kiddos were so excited when they came back from PE and they were there. One kiddoexclaimed, "this is the best day of my life, I'm so excited that I might faint!!" It was very fun to try out the new materials!!

Happy Holidays!

Hello Kindergarten Families!

I hope you all have a very happy holiday break! Enjoy the extra time with you kiddos. I will miss them over the next two weeks and will be anxious to hear about their fun adventures! January 4th will come very quick and we will be rocking and rolling towards the end of kindergarten. Take a peak at the book your child received today as well as the holiday work packet, the packet is totally optional but if you would like your child to spend some quiet time each day working that would be a great pack for them to work from. I will be in Cancun Mexico for a belated honeymoon so enjoy the snow while I enjoy the beach!! :)

Let It Go!!!!

Frozen day was a success!!! We started the day but listening to all of the music and coloring pictures of the characters from the movie, built our very own Olaf, played some games and ended with watching the movie with all of the other kindergarten friends!! My favorite part of the day was when Let It Go was played during the movie and all 60 kinders sang together! It was a very fun day filled with singing, smiles and lots of laughter!!

Even Snowflake got into the Frozen theme!

I will see everyone next week for an exciting holiday week filled with The Polar Express, gingerbread cookies, Santa themed centers, and our holiday performance!

Snowflake had some fun!!

Snowflake had a fun Wednesday night! When we got to school on Thursday there were photos of Henry (Mrs Griffith's elf) and Snowflake posted all over the hall!! They were in the hall hanging out, they are so silly!!

I can't wait to see everyone tomorrow for our Frozen day!!!

Shh....Snowflake is resting....

We had a class accident yesterday....someone touched our elf :( This means that Snowflake could loose his magic....

But Snowflake left us a note today and took a nap...

Today we said good-bye to Ms. Olivia and Ms. Sarah, the students from UM that were working in our classroom. We had a little good-bye celebration for them...they will be missed! We also wrote about a gingerbread man/boy/girl and completed gingerbread centers! We had another fun day in kindergarten!!

Welcome Snowflake the Elf!

Santa listened to our letter and sent us an elf!! We were so excited to receive the elf, he wrote us a letter explaining the rules about the elf including how we cannot touch him and then told us we had to name the elf. As a class we voted on names and decided on Snowflake! We are already loving having him in our classroom and cannot wait to have a fun holiday season together!

Winter Weather

As the weather turns chilly and snow begins to fall, we enter the season of SNOW GEAR!  All kinders need to wear weather-appropriate clothing to school including warm boots or shoes, a heavy winter coat, mittens, and hats.  Kiddos can also wear snow pants to school.  A few tips to keep in mind when choosing snow gear for your child:

Coat
Does it have a hood?
Is it large enough to fit over other cold-weather clothing such as sweatshirts?
Can my child independently put on and take off the coat, including zipping?
Label with your child's name somewhere inside the coat.

Snow Pants
Can my child independently put on and take off the snow pants?
If they choose to wear them during the day...can my child independently undress to use the restroom?
Label with your child's name somewhere inside the pants.

It is inevitable that hats and gloves will go missing throughout the winter.  It is important that kindergartners learn responsibility and cold-weather gear is great practice!

We have LOTS and LOTS of snow boots and heavy winter coats at school, if you are in need please let me know or talk to Ms. Nave at the front desk.
