T - Top - /t/

You may hear your kiddo singing the song; T (name of letter) top (word that starts with T) /t/ (sound that t makes).

We have special paper in writing...it looks like this:
The paper has different lines; sky line, plane line, grass line, worm line.

Every letter will have a song that helps them remember how to write it.

The song goes like this......
Start at the sky line,
Stop at the grass line,
Cross at the plane line,
T, top, /t/

Please encourage your child to sing the songs, we will learn many new songs for each letter!

PS We also practiced an earthquake drill and started math buckets today.....I'm exhausted! Your kiddo may be too :)

Math Time Fun

What hard working friends!! They are picking up on the  math material so quickly and it makes me so excited!!!

Today the kiddos built numbers 1-5 with different manipulatives including blocks, square tiles, dinosaurs and red/white beans.

Tomorrow we are going to begin MATH BUCKETS. Math Buckets are basically math centers including technology, games and a center to work with me. Each kiddo will complete each center every day; 10 minutes a piece - this is what we will work into, not sure how tomorrow will go! Be sure to ask your child tomorrow night (Wednesday) what MATH BUCKET they liked best.

Busy Monday!

Hello KB Families

Today was a VERY busy day in kindergarten!!

Here's a list of a few of the things we did:

  • Began walk to read; a program that your child 'walks' to a group that is matched to fit their reading needs. Ask your child who their reading group teacher is!
  • Started our math program; this really did not effect the kiddos greatly because we have been doing math but it is a great step for us! Ask your kiddo to count by 10's to 100!
  • Met a new friend named Echo who will teach us how to write letters. Ask your kiddo about the sky line, the plane line, the grass line and the worm line on a piece of paper.
  • Danced to different Halloween songs!
  • Climbed the climbing rope in PE!!! The kiddos also received a great behavior report from Mrs. Kiemele
  • Celebrated with pajama day because our behavior was so wonderful for the sub!
We had a very fun day back from our short break!!

See you tomorrow!

Please check your child's folder, there is A LOT of important information in there tonight!!

Pumpkins Galore

We started PUMPKIN WEEK today! This is a very exciting week in kindergarten ending with our field trip to the Pumpkin Patch on Wednesday.  We began our day by pokey pinning a pumpkin picture (using a thumb tack and poking holes on the lines, great skill to strengthen little hands), read some pumpkin books, watched a video about the pumpkin life cycle, learned about 3 star coloring by coloring a pumpkin and ended our day exploring our class pumpkins! Thank you to the following families for the pumpkin donations; Rhea, Roke and Steve. We also had fun exploring a white pumpkin that a former custodian at Lowell brought to us! The students had great behavior today :) We will continue pumpkin exploration tomorrow by seeing if the pumpkin floats and cutting them open......

Tomorrow I will be gone for 3 hours for a district directed meeting, I know the students will get a good report from the sub :)

Happy Pumpkin Week!!!

Love Mrs. Baied

We learned what it means to have 3 Star coloring, please remind your kiddo of this type of coloring when coloring at home also!

Three Star Coloring makes
Mrs. Baied very happy :)

We practiced how to earn 3 stars on our coloring by coloring a pumpkin.....the kiddos did a FABULOUS job!!

Some of my kindergarten friends had a difficult time at the fire station, we had a long talk as a class about behavior and we are going to work very hard the next few days to earn our pumpkin patch field trip. Talk to your kiddo about how they should behave on a field trip. Thank you :)

Have a great weekend! See you Monday to begin our week of learning about pumpkins!
